Meeting Freddy in Cleveland

The Best day of my life

The bst thing that ever happened to me was when I got to meet and hang out with Freddy. I was living in Cleveland at the time. The Mariners were in town and of course I had to go to all 3 games. It was May 13-15th 2003. The first game, the Mariners won 8-3. The next game May 14 2003, Freddy pitched, but didn't do so well. They ended up losing 2-7. But this is the night my life changed! After the game we decided to go to the hotel where the Mariners were staying and try to get some autographs. The game ended pretty late and then we still had to wait a while for them to get there. There happened to be a guy there who I had previously known (George) but had not seen or talked to in a long time.I knew that he knew a lot of players and him and I began talking about Freddy. He happened to be going out with Freddy that night. So I made sure to be extra nice to him and found out what bar they were going to. Finally, it was about 11:30pm when the team bus pulled up. I was so excited and nervous about seeing Freddy. He got off the bus and was looking super HOT! I really don't think he would've come over to us but that guy that knew Freddy also spoke Spanish and he was yelling at him to come over. What luck!! So I got his autograph and had my picture taken with him. I couldn't believe it! We waited around a long time again for him to come back out. He did finally with Joel and I even had offered them a ride to the bar but they decided to take a cab. Good thing cuz I would've kidnapped them both. But I wasn't giving up. I followed them to the bar. Freddy was easy to find becuase he was so tall. We got a few drinks and stood behind Freddy and Joel. Freddy went to the bathroom many times and had to walk right by me. One time when he was coming back he just looked at me and kinda smiled/laughed. It was SO cute! After having a few drinks to loosen up I asked George to introduce me to Freddy and Joel. He said something in Spanish to Freddy and he smiled at me and said Hello and shook my hand. I also shook Joel's hand, then went back to Freddy. I had no idea what to say!! I just started talking to him about Cleveland and it just went from there. He is really so nice. We hung out with them until they left. It was the best experience I ever had. I will never forget it.

We went to the game the next day too. That was fun because there was a rain delay and it was pretty late at night and in the middle of the week. Most of the fans had left by then. There was literally only about 200 people in the ballpark. I felt like I was at my own personal baseball game. Most of the Mariners were hanging out in the dugout nd would pop their heads out every once in a while. I got some good pics of Freddy that night. It was lots of fun.

We even decided to to make the drive to Detroit to watch the game on Sunday. In between innings I kept trying to get Freddy's attention and he eventually saw me and gave me a wave.

I haven't seen him in person in about a year so I'm sure he won't remember me anymore. But I sure will try to meet up with him again.
